Desk Space: The Final Frontier

We were recently challenged to throw away our regular desk ergonomics catalogues and come up with something completely different. And we're rather pleased with the results - as is the Client.
The brief:
Come up with a solution to give the client more desk space and ensure that dual monitor working could be achieved.

The issue:
With a maximum of only 1400mm width for each desk workspace and with each needing a two monitors, keeping every cm of the work-surface clear was going to be a great advantage.

The solution:
There was nothing available off-the-shelf, which would allow us to mount the double monitor arm directly onto the tool rail which was an integrated in to the Steelcase desk panel  - so we designed a bespoke mounting bracket and had them manufactured.

The monitor arm includes a 'wing' attachment which allows the two monitors to be mounted side-by-side in a vertical or horizontal position. Once the monitor arm is balanced, fingertip control can be achieved to move both the monitor arm and monitors from a seated position.

With some bespoke graphics being produced and applied to the desk screen which sits beneath the tool rail, the finished solution looks great and ensures that every single cm of desktop can be utilised.
